To Associates and Recommended Advisors
There is a real temptation to fill pages such as these with a lot of names. Indeed, it’s quite difficult not to mention friends and ex colleagues that offer related services. Nevertheless I am determined to restrict this page to individuals (but not companies) that, in my opinion, offer something special to the clients I deal with.
Steve was the Corporate Vice President Health and Safety at BHP Billiton before establishing his own consulting practise a few years ago. He understands how global organisations work at the executive level much better than I.
If you’re looking for a high level review of your organisations safety performance and want the findings and recommendations expressed in the language most Senior Management and Directors prefer, Steve could well be your man.

Dr. Peter Sandman PhD
Peter is based in the US and is very expensive for Australian clients. Nevertheless he’s just about the best in the world in providing advice on how to engage stakeholders when there is a significant chance of community resistance to corporate plans.
The smartest businesses hire Peter to help them avoid trouble by understanding why various social groups see the same situation so very differently. However, if you’re ever in deep trouble, Peter’s fees start to look like a real bargain. What Red Adair was for oil fires, Peter Sandman is for public outrage.
Dr. Jan Hayes
Jan is a Senior Research Fellow at the Australian National University. She’s the best I know for sifting at a forest of information on any safety subject and distilling the real essence from it. She was an excellent chemical engineer, an excellent quantified risk assessor and now she has turned her focus to sociology in safety and safety in design.
Jan works with renown safety author Andrew Hopkins but she’s very much a top draw safety expert in her own right. She tops up her academic income with consulting work, so don’t hesitate to call her if you need her skills.
